Why Do You Pray?

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.  ~ Psalm 17:6

Do you know why you pray?  Do you pray because you need to?  Because you have to?  Or just because?
Do you consider talking to yourself, praying?  Are you talking to yourself or are you talking to God?

Wow, today I have so much to ask.  In my opinion, I pray because I can.  Yes, at times I definitely pray harder than others but for the most part I pray because I believe I should.  I've said before that I receive a daily bible verse and today I was emailed the one above.  I do pray with hopes that God will answer in the way that I want but I do know that sometimes the answers are the ones He thinks/knows are correct.

Isn't crazy?  That He knows what is just right for each and every one of us?  Sometimes the bigger concept with me thinking about God surprises me.  I'm sometimes lost in the concept but it doesn't matter because it is amazing!!!  He is!

Always remember to pray because you can and should not just because you need something!  God will provide for us what we need and what is right!

God Bless you and your family; have a great night!

Good post! It's always important to remember to not just pray when we are upset or need something. We should constantly be praying and not for selfish reasons. I pray everyday to help me with life choices, to be a better person, but also to say thanks for all of the blessings He has given me. Good reminder!
