So this weekend was filled with bad news....Friday morning I got a call from J's mother telling me his grandmother (his dad's mom) was going BACK into the hospital. She was put on a ventilator, had a chest tube placed, and plenty of other beeping machines were hooked up to her. Saturday the family decided to unhook machines. Well that decision was canceled. Sunday morning, we got a call saying to come to the hospital. I didn't want to go into ICU and neither did J. We didn't want to see her in bed like that.
She passed away on Sunday just as we had sat down in the hospital cafeteria to eat lunch.
Last night we had a wake and this morning the funeral. I read during the mass, stumbled upon a few words, and forgot my classes which made me even more nervous. The flowers were beautiful, the food delicious, and now she is resting!
I think most of the family was relieved (along with upset). Her health had been deteriorating over the past few months with weeks/days in and out of the hospital!
Now, she is in a better place. Thank you to all our family and friends who kept us in their thoughts and prayers.
